if you can make it next year, i suggest you all come by our house for easter morning. if you haven’t seen four grown men on an easter egg hunt, it’s more of an easter egg beatdown. next year i’ll have to youtube some of the action for you.

this year zack helped ’stuff’ the eggs. he conveniently placed quarters, movie tickets, and other high-ticket items, in eggs he would remember by color. this is him laughing as we repetitively opened those filled with 14 pennies.

and ryan about to unleash the the furry of his make-shift jellybean launcher ( constructed solely of items found in his easter basket ) and the inevitable 2008 easter sugar crash.

after the nap, we got coffee’d up and ready for round two at the winters’ house!

ummm, you tell me…

elliott had a well developed ‘team’ approach, where he harvested the eggs and the other collected. the strategy seemed to work.

of course, you can’t leave temecula without stoppin’ by pinkberry.

we finished the evening off with a fantastic dinner at the kraatz’ house and rocked yet another hunt! i’m not sure what uncovering eggs has to do with the resurrection of Jesus but we had no shortage of celebrating today!
Happy Easter!
we absolutely cannot believe that it’s been an entire year that we’ve been married! it seems like just yesterday that nellie was forced to sleep with ear plugs for the first time. i am officially part of that age old club of guys who married way out of their league. nellie has been so patient with me as we start down this journey together. of course, she scored major “wife” points for buying me the oh-so-coveted “Flight of the Conchords” season 1.
we had an absolutely wonderful stay downtown in the unparalleled city of San Diego. however, to our grave disappointment, the pier 1 clearance store is no more - most of you know how beloved it was by the two of us. so to commemorate our loss, and the advent of another year, i busted out with a super-cute self portrait session. thanks for all your support this year!

thank you : to my bride for observing the worst in me and seeing the best, for encouraging me in growth and enabling me in opportunity, for being admirable, diligent, and worth all my deepest affections. to my family ( old and new ) for expecting more than i’ve desired to give, accepting less than was reasonable, and giving more than you’ve ever received. to all of our friends for your continual excitement about us and our community and enduring our quickly onset “old age” and an increase in occurrences of “are you crazy?! i was supposed to be in bed at 10:30!”. and to our Lord for loving us despite our ignorance, redeeming us from sin, giving us value that we could not have imaged, and a journey that is challenging as it is worthwhile…
thank you
as long as i can remember, there has never been a “bad” 4th of july at the chan house. doubling as my aunt cherrie’s birthday, we’ve always managed to squeeze every ounce of fun we can out of the holiday. of course, as we grow older and married-er, we’ve dabbled in a few free standing traditions of our own. this year takes the cake as the most, well… “free-standing.”
thanks for the hours of ingenious fun with the yoga-ball. i only hope that next year you pansies can can give my 5 minute record a run for it’s money ;)
happy independence day!

i’m probably handing in my man card by admiting this, though most that know me well might debate my ever having full posession of one anyway. regardless, i watch the superbowl for the commercials. the games are fine, and that 93 yard touch-down run-back was a mighty fine way to start off a game. however, this bad boy is the moment that i’m gonna be talking about for a few weeks.

so, it’s the beginning of the holiday season. we’ve been conditioning the past few months by avoiding turkey all together - a holiday practice that i believe to be growing in popularity.
nellie and i are thankful for our families who have been so gracious to us in creating a beutiful wedding for us, our fantastic friends who have been nothing but absolutely supportive and excited all month.
enjoy the turkey!
