happy 4th…

enjoy your independence ;)

have i mentioned the dog?

it’s undeniably clear that i have been a pretty lame blogger of late. balancing my responsibilities has a super hero have proven to be harder task than anticipated. alas, i really am trying to make more time for the things i enjoy, blogging included.

a couple months back, my family picked up a maltese-poodle mix and i have to say that he’s one of the cutest dogs i’ve ever seen. and while they teach him how to sit, lie-down, and roll-over, i’ve enjoyed the higher calling addressing values of fight, bite, and how to still feel like a man after the snippety-snip.

in any case, his name is P.J. Barely and he’s somethin’ else ;)

this is what happens when…

…companies like microsoft use their mind-tricks “expertise” to pawn Microsoft Publisher as a legitimate publishing tool.

i’m going to venture a guess that exact same demographic of kids, who has mastered mobile banking at “other” banks, would have no idea what this sign even means.

it’s finally here!

this is among the innumerable reasons that i love google — their tenacious will to improve upon the way that you do just about everything!

i’m not at all surprised that google would be the first to bring the flux capacitor to market and in such a useful way — why time-travel yourself when gmail can do the legwork for you? i’m sure we’ll get a lot of milage out of gmail custom time.

“I REPEAT : do NOT drink the coffee! more instructions to follow — FUTURE DWIGHT”

happy april 1st - don’t get fooled

what the … ?

i’d like to apologize to everyone that finds this little smiley as offensive as i do. i’m a big fan of the classic * semicolon, right-parenthesis * smiley variety. for some reason the people over at wordpress took it upon themselves to deem type-face emoticons insufficient. i rebel against that movement and assure you that this will be the last buggery yellow guy that shows up here. and yellow? why yellow? anyway…

Merry Christmas

the other way to do “one day”

* WARNING * major fan-boy speak ahead…

now that we are marriage veterans, people are constantly asking us “how do you do it?”
“do what?” - i’ll reply coyly
“keep the love alive after an ENTIRE YEAR!” - miscellaneous person will retort exasperetively ( new word. google it. )

surprisingly, we have no great answers yet. though, we’ve had some really “magical” experiences this past year. while neither of us has gotten a call back for tyra banks’ “next top model” ( yet ) we’ve had the distinct privilege to strut our stuff for our dear friends and other-worldly photographers nate + jaclyn kaiser. if you love photography but a $6000 class in light fall-off theory and the jpg compression algorithm aint yo thang, get into a shootshop.

we’ve been on the “you’re a monkey derek” side of a few of these and we can’t say enough about them. now if only tyra would call me back…

jeremy + kim . wedding

one of the most exciting things over the past few years is astronomical rate at which our families have grown. i had a big family already - multiplying it be husbands, wives, babies, grand-babies, and we’re getting into some crazy old-testament types of genealogies. however, one of my favorites this year was to someone i have no “formal” connection. yes, this year i gained my first brother-in-law-IN-LAW, or is it sister-in-law-BROTHER, we haven’t discussed the details yet.

in any case, kim ( nellie’s sister ) married mr. jeremy howe this past june. they had a beautiful wedding at humbolt park in chicago and asked me to take a few pictures of the two of them. the two of them have a fantastically humorous blog that i would be remised not to tell you about. you can find it here. and now for some howe…

i didn’t take a lot of shots of the wedding. however, i did snap this one of some unexpected guests… the least they could have done was share!

we love you guys and i am so proud to be able to call you my sister-in-law and sister-in-law’s husband ;)

southparkified

the turn of the century brought some very useful and revolutionary innovations. however, non so beautifully narcissistic as the “make yourself a ( fill in the blank ) character!”

make your own here.

note that the coffee comes “between” us ;)

if you happen to be in carlsbad

today is the carlsbad street fair. as you know nellie has an abundant talent for, well… being talented. so, we have a spot at the carlsbad street fair showcasing her goods hand-made vintage key necklaces. if you’d like to come on by, give us call!
