goin’ north : day 12

according to homer simpson, every spouse has the chance to say “i need you to do this with me,” even if only once. No “why,” no “how,” no “but,” the only appropriate answer is “ok.” so, when nellie turned to me and said “michael, i need your help and i can’t tell you why” i was all in. the instruction : out run a moving train and take a picture of an unknown freight car, as it flies by. piece of cake, right? well it would be in the city but not coming home from hood river, where there is an exit only every ten miles - hastening, slowing, stopping, getting out, getting in, and starting again. all this time, i had no idea what we were after, merely supporting her “vision.” we were running out of exits when we finally got ahead of the train. as it flew past, i noticed the jittery glee of someone chimping a keeper. i walked over excitedly to see this beauty on the camera screen:

as nellie put it, “i just couldn’t let that pass without letting someone else seeing it!”

continuing on our leisurely day we met mike at pizza schmizza. this guy was the man and hooked us up with some of the best breadsticks that we’ve ever had! when we asked him our question, mike said that he would like to wake up with a “business of his own.” mike, you’re the man! thanks for brightening our day!

here’s a picture of him below a golden camel.

awww, thanks honey! <3

found a sweet paper and print store - oblation. this is the kind of shop that makes you want to open your own.

of course, you gotta stop by the photobooth! the machine was from the 70’s, so there was no “ok stupid, look at the camera now because we’re going to take your picture in a 3…2…1…” warnings. no, this was put your $3 bucks in and hope your sense of mechanical telepathy is up to snuff. we shot twice ;)

alright. now, i’m off to figure out how i’m going to throw the next 3gigs of pictures onto a hard drive with 500MB free space on it. so good luck to me, right?! talk to you soon.
